
“Sake Seas” - Kate Hush
Kate Hush is an artist and designer that has worked in the custom neon lighting and art field in New York City for over ten years. Now based in Detroit, she specializes in all aspects of neon glass fabrication including but not limited to; studio setup, neon art restoration, art + sign design, glass bending, processing, shipping, and installation.
In addition to glass work, Kate has a formal background in graphic art + design and is an expert in her field at creating unique neon style illustrations and animations using her signature style. These pieces are hard to distinguish from their glass counterparts in print or on screen and are highly sought after commercially. She has created illuminated illustrations for clients such as Pabst Blue Ribbon, Jean Paul Gaultier, Toyota, and The CW to name a few.
She also creates traditional print graphics used for everything from tattoos, product packaging, apparel, to print advertisements. She is considered a virtuoso in nailing era specific looks when needed, and has a vast knowledge of various print processes.
Kate teaches neon classes both in person and virtually that cover bending, design, fabrication, etc. Please check her instagram page to see if there are any upcoming courses. She has taught in New York City at Brooklyn Glass and Urban Glass, in Los Angeles at the Museum of Neon Art, and as a guest instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
